Starting this Thursday, April 23, the Philadelphia Daily News will begin coverage of local short track auto racing action.

Ernie Saxton, a well known columnist for a number of publications, including Area Auto Racing News, Trackside Magazine, Inside Track, and others, will be penning a weekly column for the Philadelphia Daily News.

The Daily News, reaching more than 250,000 readers each day, will offer short track race results on Tuesday of each week. NASCAR Winston Cup and other major motor sports news on Wednesday and news of coming events and items of interest by Ernie Saxton on Thursday of each week.

"I am looking forward to this opportunity to have news of local short track auto racing events in a big city daily newspaper," Saxton said. "I think this will be a real plus for local short track auto racing. I really see this as an opportunity to bring new fans out to the local short tracks."

The Philadelphia Daily News continues its support of local auto racing by becoming the title sponsor of the Thunder on the Hill sprint car series at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania this season. The first race in the series will be held on Sunday, May 3, with racing action getting underway at 7:30 p.m. Headlining the event will be the Allstar Circuit of Champions sprint cars. Joining the Allstars on the evening's program will be the KARS 358 sprint cars.
