EARNHARDT JR., BUSCH SERIES CHAMPION, WILL VISIT PENNZOIL MOTORSPORTS '99 ALONG WITH MANY OTHER POPULAR RACERS

FORT WASHINGTON, PA JANUARY 7, 1999 . . . Dale Earnhardt Jr., the 1998 NASCAR Busch Series Grand National champion, will make an appearance at the 14th Annual Pennzoil Motorsports Auto Racing Trade Show. The three day show opens at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 15th at the Fort Washington, PA Expo Center and continues through 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 17th. Earnhardt was recently named Driver of the Year by viewers of The Nashville Network's RACEDAY program. And last weekend Earnhardt was named Al Holbert Jr. Memorial/Eastern Motorsport Press Association Driver of the Year. The popular driver, son of seven time Winston Cup champion Dale Earnhardt Sr., will be signing autographs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 16. Joining Earnhardt in his autograph session, representing Pennzoil, will be Justin Labonte, Ken Schrader, Blaise Alexander, Tim Fuller, Tim McCreadie, ARDC midget champion Bryan Kobylarz and sprint car ace Lance Dewease. Also part of this autograph session will be NASCAR Winston Cup star Steve Park who is sponsored on the Winston Cup circuit by Pennzoil. Earnhardt has announced that he will run the full NASCAR Busch Series schedule in 1999 and will include a limited schedule of Winston Cup events with sponsorship from Budweiser. In 2000 Earnhardt Jr. will move to the Winston Cup circuit on a full time basis. Also making appearances at the three day show will be NASCAR Winston Cup drivers Jeremy Mayfield, David Green, two time Winston Cup champion Terry Labonte, Geoffrey Bodine, Bobby Labonte and Chad Little. For drag racing fans there will be Cory McClenathan, Cruz Pedregon, lady racer Bunny Burkett, Bruce Allen, Mike Thomas, and former World Funny Car champion Bruce Larsen. Just added to the show lineup is Antron Brown who rides the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle owned by Philadelphia Eagle's Troy Vincent. "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, winner of more than 50 NHRA top fuel events and recently named one of the top ten drivers of the century by SPORTS magazine, will sign autographs at 1 p.m. on Saturday and spend time talking about his career and answering questions from the audience at 4 p.m. And for Indianapolis car fans Pep Boys Indy Racing League star Scott Sharp will be visiting the show along with Indy 500 winner Eddie Cheever, David Steele, and three time Indy 500 winner Johnny Rutherford. Former Indy racer Bob Harkey will also be on hand as part of a special Racing Legends session on Sunday at 1 p.m. Pennzoil World of Outlaws 15-time champion Steve Kinser will be visiting on Sunday at 1 p.m. Other sprint car racers making visits to the show include Donnie Kreitz, Lance Dewease and Fred Rahmer. Other well known racers and personalities visiting the show will include NASCAR Busch Series racers Joe Bessey and Blaise Alexander; modified racers Brett Hearn, Tim Fuller and Tim McCreadie; NASCAR Busch North driver Tom Carey; NASCAR Dash Series racer Ricky Bryant; tractor puller Larry Koester; Formula racer Andy Lally; Pennzoil sponsored Jr. drag racers Erica & Courtneye Enders ARCA racing talents Andy Belmont and Doc Watson along with a number of others. On Friday, January 15, Fred Rahmer will be honored as the winningest driver in the nation along with other top winners Gary Stuhler (dirt late models), Craig VonDohren (small block modifieds), Brian Swartzlander (big block modifieds), Ted Christopher (asphalt modifieds) and Billy Whittaker (asphalt late models). These drivers will be signing autographs on a special color autograph card that is available only at the show. The Bud Friday Party will feature Cousin Ed, WYSP disc jockey, with Bud Girls, Free Games, Prizes and Giveaways at 8 p.m. on Friday at 8 p.m. Also part of the three day show will be a series of informative seminars and workshops for those involved in the motor sports industry. The U.S.Tobacco Ms. Motorsports Competition will take to the stage area twice on Saturday ( 1p.m. and 7 p.m.), the Little Miss Motorsports Contest on Sunday at 3 p.m. and the Kid's Big Wheel Competition at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Rev. Pat Evans will offer Victory Chapel, The Racers Church for Exhibitors at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and again at 11:30 a.m. for the general public. Tickets are priced at $10.00 for adults each day or there is a three day ticket priced at $25.00. For young people (6 thru 12) tickets are $3.00 and under six are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. The Philadelphia Daily News/Philadelphia Inquirer return as media sponsors of the Pennzoil Motorsports '99 show and will run several ads during the week prior to the show. In addition show attendees will receive a bag of goodies when entering the show that will include the newspaper of the day, a color poster of a different driver signing autographs that day, a chance to win a Pennzoil stock car bodied go-kart, a Slim Jim and a Pennzoil Motorsports '99 key chain.
