M - SERVICE support customer teams

The in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, based Muhlner Motorsport Team will, thanks to the support of the Belgian Porsche Importers D'Ieteren, enter the 2006 Porsche Michelin Supercup with the two Monaco-based Belgian drivers Geoffroy Horion und David Dermont at the wheel.

In the last weeks work has gone on behind the scenes at a feverish pace on this ambitious project and to form the basis of a long-term joint Motorsport Engagement between D'Ieteren Porsche Import and Muhlner Motorsport SPRL. With Horion and Dermont come two drivers who drove the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (997) in Supercup in 2005 and who know both the circuits and the current Cup Porsche intimately.

"We see in the cooperation with D'Ieteren Porsche Import a long-term strategy to represent Porsche Belgium in international motorsport. As an "All Belgian Team" we will enjoy significant media exposure and will be the ideal partner for Belgian manufacturers and service companies who want to exploit the "Made in Belgium" concept or for international companies with an interest in the Belgian market" described team boss Bernhard Muhlner the development.

Alongside their Porsche Michelin Supercup activities, Muhlner Motorsport is also involved in the German Carrera Cup. Furthermore, the endurance racing activities of Porsche-driving Heinz-Josef Bermes (Willich), who has driven for the team since 1995, will continue to be supported. After a start to the 2006 season with the Supercup race in Bahrain on 12th March, the ultra- successful Muhlner Motorsport Raceteam might well end their season at the same circuit with an entry in the Bahrain 24hrs on 15th/16th December.

In the newly started division "M - SERVICE" customers' race cars will be prepared in the Francorchamps workshop and also, where required, on circuit. The customer base includes, alongside various touring cars and a few Porsche GT cars for various race series, two ex-ORECA Silhouettes for the Belgian BTCS and BELCAR championships.

"As we do not have our own touring car program at the moment, the new "M - Service" concept gives us the opportunity to make use of the extra capacity, be it workshop space, equipment or indeed manpower. This is a means of maintaining activity for our gearbox and motor building departments, and the dyno, and so retain the team infrastructure for possible future touring car activities for an interested manufacturer" explained Muhlner his reasoning.
