FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Oct. 10, 2000) - Monsters will converge on the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track Halloween weekend for the first Extreme Monster Truck Nationals, Oct. 28-29.
The event is scheduled to include nine of the nation's top monster trucks, including Bigfoot, Monster Patrol, Bear Foot, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Clydesdale, Bounty Hunter, Scarlet Bandit and Equalizer. The 10,000-pound trucks will race wheel-to-wheel on a challenging course that will include huge ramps, massive tabletop jumps and treacherous obstacles.
"This will definitely be some great entertainment for the whole family," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "I'm sure many people have pre-conceived ideas about this sort of show, but they really owe it to themselves to come to this event. I think they'll be pleasantly surprised at just how much fun it really is."
"This is real racing," said event promoter Terry Dickerson, president of Milestone Motorsports Marketing. "Anything can happen. The Extreme Monster Truck Nationals give motorsports enthusiasts 1,500-horsepower trucks going head-to-head on an unbelievable track."
In addition to the monster truck racing, the shows will also include a Thunder Trucks competition.
Gates open for the Saturday night show at 6:00 p.m. with competition beginning at 7:30 p.m. Gates for the Sunday afternoon show open at 1:00 p.m. with competition beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Reserved seat tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children ages 6-12. Advanced general admission seats are $15 for adults, $10 for children. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling the speedway ticket office at (817) 215-8500. Tickets will also be available at the gate day of show.
