WHAT: Mercedes Speedweeks Autocross - featuring two Mercedes-Benz E430 Sport sedans, with media, tennis professionals and CART racing drivers competing for the best lap time on a parking-lot course.

WHERE: Gulfstream Park parking lot (Gate D), Hallandale, Fla., 901 South Federal Highway, 20 minutes north of Key Biscayne.

From Miami, take I-95 North to the Miami Gardens Drive or Ives Dairy Road exits. Proceed east to Biscayne Blvd. (a.k.a. U.S. 1) and then turn left (north). Follow the signs to Gulfstream Park Gate D.

WHEN: Thurs., March 18, 1999, from 2-4 p.m.

WHO: Several ATP Tour professionals (Tim Henman, Tommy Haas and Mark Philippoussis are likely to compete), CART racing drivers Mark Blundell, Mauricio Gugelmin and Helio Castro-Neves and tennis, motor sports and Miami media.

WHY: Mercedes-Benz sponsors the Mercedes Super 9 (ATP Tour) and provides racing engines for the CART FedEx Championship Series. The Lipton is a Mercedes Super 9 event. The Marlboro Grand Prix of Miami features seven Mercedes-powered drivers.

PRIZES: Mercedes-Benz Chronograph watches awarded for the quickest lap time in the following classes: tennis professionals; tennis media; CART drivers; motor sports media; local Miami media.
