Pearson gets set for 2002 Renaultsport Clio Trophy campaign.
Renaultsport Clio Trophy ace, Rick Pearson and his new team mate, Paul Lomax are on target for the first round of the season following three days of intensive pre-season testing at Valencia last weekend.
"Both cars ran reliably and swiftly for the duration of the test," Pearson commented."We actually managed more running this one weekend than we did in the whole of last season. The Mark Fish Motorsport crew did a great job and my new team-mate looks to be right on the pace."
A former UK Clio Cup race winner, Pearson ran a selected calendar of events in Europe last year."Last season was very much a fact finding mission for the whole team. We knew that the transition from UK Clio's to the V6 category wasn't going to be easy but at the same time, we acquitted ourselves well, gathering lots of valuable information for this season and picking up a couple of top twenty placings along the way.
"I have no doubts that we can now build on that experience and challenge for race wins."
Although new to the Clio Trophy, Paul Lomax also raced in the 2000 Elf Clio Renaultsport UK Cup with Pearson and that season's eventual champions, Mark Fish Motorsport.
"It's great to be reunited with Mark Fish and Rick for the 2002 season. The Freeparking.co.uk Clio V6 is a tricky car to learn but we got some great running in Valencia and the whole team is itching to get out there and take on Europe!"
The Freeparking.co.uk Clio V6 Trophy team kick off the 2002 season at Magny Cours, 20 April. They will be seen in Britain twice this year as part of the Eurosport Super Racing Weekend.
