Bicester, UK, Friday 27th April 2001: Round 2 of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) takes place at Jarama, Spain, over the weekend of 19th/20th May with every indication that the event will be another success story for this newly formed Series. Based upon the highly acclaimed American Le Mans Series - now into its third season - the ELMS has clearly captured the imagination of sportscar fans and a new breed of motor racing followers across Europe.

The official web site, www.europeanlemans.com, received 72,000 visitors from 30 countries in its first week on-line and the inaugural round of the Championship at Donington Park - in cold and overcast conditions - was attended by over 13,000 people, the largest crowd for a sportscar race at Donington Park for more than a decade.

The Jarama event represents the final Le Mans shake-down before June's 24 Hours of Le Mans. A full grid is anticipated for the endurance race on Sunday 20th May as many of the worlds' top sportscars and drivers compete in this truly international spectacle. With the circuit's easy accessibility from Madrid and the Spanish passion for top class motor-racing, everyone is welcome - para todos - and a crowd of over 25,000 is anticipated. The action will be fast and furious and excitement is guaranteed.

The ELMS motto, 'For the Fans', means unlike Formula 1 there will be an open paddock for the fans to mingle with the stars and see the cars up close. An autograph session with all of the ELMS drivers will be held on Race Qualifying day, Saturday 19th May, so meeting the likes of JJ Lehto, Stefan Johansson, Frank Biela, Olivier Beretta and David Brabham is a real possibility.
