M.N.Z. EXECUTIVE ANNOUNCE NEW SPORT DEVELOPMENT POSITION.
The M.N.Z. executive are pleased to announce the creation of a new Sport Development Position and the appointment of Mark Davis as Project Manager.
This is an interim measure which will be reviewed and modified where necessary following recommendations from the current review process. Mark has been given an initial 3 month trial contract with an emphasis on self funding through other than current income sources.
This initiative has been seen as necessary in order to advance and take advantage of various projects and opportunities available to M.N.Z. now which would otherwise be lost should extra personnel have not been appointed.
The executive will review the position at the next executive meeting September 26/27th and on conclusion of the twelve week period, performance and funding issues will be assessed and continuation of the contract, and in what form will be decided upon.
Mark's official start date is from 12/8/98 and will be based from M.N.Z. Huntly office.
This is seen as a very positive move by M.N.Z. in addressing issues pertaining to providing personnel and resources for it's members and related industry in order to further advance the development of "Motorcycling New Zealand".
In general terms the Project Manager will provide additional support for our clubs event organizers/promoters, commissions and Co-ordinators.
Mark will also work with sponsors, industry and media, in an effort to cater for and facilitate the needs of all parties.
During the next three months Mark has the following key tasks to deal to:
M.N.Z CHAMPIONSHIP AND MAJOR EVENTS:
Assist clubs, event organizers/promoters in the running of promotion media and sponsorship where necessary.
ROAD RACING NATIONALS:
Co-ordinate the national points road race championship series. Assisting the promoting clubs and road race director Warren New.
Manage and promote trail riding.
Mark proposes to be involved is and develop major event calendar management, corporate sponsorship, marketing etc all the while continuing and expanding his involvement with event and series co-ordination, commissions, media, trail ride coaching, etc and of course be seen as a competitor at selected events.
In the first few weeks Mark will be settling into his new Huntly base and "doing the rounds," contacting/introducing and developing relations with those who he will need to work closely with on an ongoing basis.
