JEREMY MAYFIELD TO MAKE FIRST VISIT TO MOTORSPORTS '99
FORT WASHINGTON, PA SEPTEMBER 27, 1998 . . . Jeremy Mayfield, one of the rising young stars of NASCAR Winston Cup racing, is the first "to sign on the dotted line" to be part of Motorsports '99. Mayfield, currently tied for fifth in the point standings (after the MBNA 400 at Dover Downs),is driver of the Mobil 1 sponsored Ford Taurus.
Mayfield, who earned his first Winston Cup win this season, will be appearing in autograph alley courtesy of Tommy Gale Trailers, Elizabeth, PA. In addition Gale will have Jeremy greeting visitors to his show display.
"This will be a first time appearance at the show for Jeremy and that is very exciting to us. We have had many of the top names in the sport appear at our motor sports show. Mayfield is quickly becoming one of the most popular racers on the NASCAR Winston Cup circuit and it is only natural that he should be part of Motorsports '99," said show organizer, Len Sammons.
Motorsports '99 is a three day auto racing trade show set to open at 1 p.m., Friday, January 15. The show, considered the mid-winter happening for those involved in the motor sports industry and for motor sports fans, covers close to 300,000 square feet of the Fort Washington, PA Expo Center. More than 50,000 people turned out for the show in January of 1998 making it one of the largest, if not the largest, show of its type in the nation.
Produced by Len Sammons Productions the show will run from 1 p.m. Friday, January 15 through 6 p.m., Sunday, January 17.
Motorsports '99 will include more than 400 exhibitors offering a variety of motor sports related items. Included will be parts manufacturers, engine builders, speed equipment suppliers, trailer manufacturers, tire companies and more that will make up the hardcore racer section of the show. In addition there will be novelty items, collectibles, sportswear, videos and other items of interest to fans. The show relates to all segments of motor sports.
One of the most popular attractions at the show is the Skoal A-Plus Ms. Motorsports '99 Pageant. In addition there is the Little Miss Motorsports '99 Contest, Kids Big Wheel Racing, Antique Car Displays, Legends of auto racing autograph sessions and more.
Proving to be very popular with show attendees are the various racer's seminars covering everything from sponsorship to race car chassis setups. The seminars are free to show attendees and take place every 90 minutes throughout the show dates.
Another record breaking turnout is expected for the three day "motor sports extravaganza" so those planning to attend the show are advised to make their plans early.
