JACKIE STEWART TO OPEN WATKINS GLEN MOTOR RACING RESEARCH LIBRARY Watkins Glen, NY ( May 14, 1999 ) - Officials at the Watkins Glen Motor Racing Research Library announced today that Jackie Stewart, 3-time World Champion and 2-time winner of the United States Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, will be the guest of honor at the grand opening press conference, June 4. "We are extremely pleased," said Phil McCray, the newly appointed Director and Curator for the library. "Jackie Stewart will always be one of the great names in motorsports and he will always have a special place at Watkins Glen. To have his help opening the Motor Racing Research Library is an honor and a pleasure." Jackie Stewart will be in town for the weekend and is expected to attend several functions at the Library. Stewart will also be spending time at Watkins Glen International for the season opening Watkins Glen Historic Races presented by Chemung Canal Trust. Stewart will be attending the Historic Sportscar Racing drivers meeting on Saturday morning at 11:00 am and will be participating in a "Fan Forum" at 11:45 a.m. in the Pit Terrace Grandstand at Watkins Glen International. During the "Fan Forum", Stewart will meet and take questions from fans at Watkins Glen. Jackie Stewart's appearance at the Watkins Glen Motor Racing Research Library and at Watkins Glen International is made possible by MCI WorldCom, sponsor of Stewart's Formula One Ford team.
