Paul Poon back on top in Round 3 of HTCC

China Dragon Racing driver Paul Poon is the winner of the 3rd round of the Hong Kong Touring Car Championship after another exciting battle with Cheong's Speed racing driver Kenneth Look.

Paul took the lead at the beginning of the race but Kenneth, who qualified 5th on the grid, moved up to second quickly and by lap 6 was right on Paul's tail. Paul defended but on lap 8 Kenneth tried to move pass around the outside at T14, the move left half his car off the track and he lost momentum, allowing Paul into a lead that he would not lose.

Paul commented afterwards, 'The weather is very hot and I was struggling with my tyres. Kenneth drove a great race and caught me. It was very tight going into T14 but luckily I stayed ahead.'

'It is always easier for the second placed driver to chase then for the lead driver to defend in any race,' Kenneth said afterwards. 'I took a chance at T14 but unfortunately it didn't work out.'

Rookie Rolly Sham once again finished third. 'It is good to be here and learning from the two masters.'

Kelvin So and LAU Heung-Tak had a good battle for 6th place also. Kelvin dived down the inside of LAU at T9 only for LAU to hit back a lap later. But Kelvin overtook Heung-Tak for good a few laps later.

Round 4 of the championship will be held at 2:50pm tomorrow. (16 May 2004).
