Jorge Lorenzo has withdrawn from this weekend's Race of Champions due to injury, and will have his place taken by Olympic cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy.

Podium: second place Marc Marquez, Repsol Honda Team and Winner and 2015 World Champion Jorge Lorenzo, Yamaha Factory Racing

Lorenzo suffered second-degree burns on his leg celebrating his recent MotoGP title success in Mallorca, which have failed to heal in time for him to be able to participate.

Six-time Olympic gold medallist Hoy, winner of this year's European Le Mans Series LMP3 title alongside Charlie Robertson, will take the Spaniard's place alongside Lotus Formula 1 star Romain Grosjean in the All-Stars team.

The duo are set to go up against the Young Stars pairing of Pascal Wehrlein and Jolyon Palmer for a place in the Nations' Cup quarter-finals.

Lorenzo's place in the individuals' contest meanwhile will go to either Bradley Philpot or Des Foley, who will take part in a shootout to determine who gets to face Mick Doohan for a place in the main RoC draw.

The announcement means there will now be a total of eight British drivers in both the Nations' Cup and the individual Race of Champions contest.
