Broad has an Improved Weekend at Oulton Park

Bedford's Phil Broad was competing again in the Ginetta G50 Cup races which was supporting the British Touring Car Meeting at Oulton Park

After a less than successful weekend at Rockingham Broad was determined to get the car setup to his liking and finally at Oulton Park it all started to come together for him.

The Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire is based within a park and is a very flowing but technical circuit which is greatly liked by most drivers.

With Broad having tried differing car set ups both at a test day in May and during free practice on Friday, the car began to work for him and gave him some better front end feeling. It also helped that Broad had competed previously in Caterhams and so knew his way round the circuit.

There were a few technical issues on Saturday that didn't see qualifying go to plan but in Race 1 Broad had good battles during the race to bring the car home in a respectable midfield position.

In race 2 on Sunday the teams were a bit worried in the assembly area as light rain had started to fall during the preceding BTCC race, but fortunately this stopped. After a strong start Broad again looked more comfortable with his car and a consistent run gave him his best result of the season so far, finishing 7th at the chequered flag.

As Broad also works as an engineer on the Formula 2 cars that support the World Series Championship the next races he will be competing in is at the Snetterton meeting in Norfolk in early August, followed by Silverstone two weeks later.

He would like to thank all his sponsors and Century Motorsport who run the car.
