There was a Ferrari Challenge double date on May 3rd. The Europe South series held its second round at Mugello, while Spa-Francorchamps hosted the opening round of the Europe West series.

Costantino Bertuzzi and Beppe Schenetti were the main protagonists at Mugello. Bertuzzi was a clear winner of the sprint race, with a six second advantage over Schenetti, while De Iturbe was third. Schenetti turned the tables in the endurance race after a tough fight with Bertuzzi who finished just four tenths of second behind. Adriano Baso, sixth in the first race, made it to the third step of the podium, thus maintaining his championship lead, with 58 points, an eight point advantage over Schenetti. Bertuzzi shares third place with the reliable Livio (one third and two fourth places in four races) on 35 points.

The Swiss runner, Jean Claude Pillon was the dominant force in the Spa-Francorchamps race. Pillon was second in the first race, beaten by pole man, France's Jakubowski and taking the second ahead of D'Ansembourg. Others to make their mark in the two races were Englishman Sean Walker (one fourth and one third place) and Frenchman Massimo Manganaro (third in the first race and seventh in the second.)
