Saturday's warm sunshine and blue skies were replaced by overcast conditions for the morning of race day. The sunshine made a welcome re- appearance in time for the first of the two races, although there was a stiff breeze blowing across the Valencia circuit.

Race 1

Despite competing on home ground, SEAT Sport suffered one cruel misfortune after another. Frank Diefenbacker had qualified his SEAT Toledo Cupra in 5th place on the grid for the first of the afternoon's two races - SEAT Sport's best qualifying result - but the race only lasted a little over two laps before his engine failed.
