Monza, 8th March 2001. Every Super Touring fan is looking forward to discovering if 2001 season will be another one rich of successes for the Team Alfa Romeo Nordauto.
On April 1st the new and exciting FIA European Touring Car Championship will start in Monza, Italy. Ten Countries will host the Championship from April to October: Italy, Czech Republic, France, Great Britain, Belgium, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Spain and Portugal.
Since eleven years now Nordauto and Alfa Romeo have been leading together with great determination. The task remains the same: to keep on winning, even in a more competitive and international Championship to which the most prestigious car brands will take part.
The winning couple Giovanardi-Larini will conduct the team throughout the new challenge season. Last year they won together the Team Title. Fabrizio conquered, with 256 points, the 2000 Euro STC Driver Champion Title. On the other hand, the Tuscan Nicola, former Formula 1 driver, closed at the fourth position in the same cup with 195 points and now remains a strategic figure for the team. Third confirmation for the Team Alfa Romeo Nordauto is Romana Bernardoni, unique girl-driver within the entire Championship.
But let's give the Team leave to speak:
Monica Sipsz (Team Manager): "Four successive titles are not enough for us. We know that we are the target team to overcome, a difficult role that sometimes may generate tensions. It's much easier hiding within the group and following others, than being under pressure and remaining concentrate, as it often happens to us. But here nobody seems intentioned to take the foot off the accelerator!"
Fabrizio Giovanardi: "Being under pressure never worried me much, because whenever I had my nerves on edge, I always did the best of myself and I think I gained important results. For this reason I hope 2001 will be a new intense season!"
Nicola Larini: "Our goal didn't change: to win! Honestly speaking I am ready for a new season rich of emotions and satisfactions. I think that the team is in the right mood to confirm 2000 results!".
Romana Bernardoni: "This year I am ready again to be part of a winning, valid and battle trained team as Team Alfa Romeo Nordauto. Of course, being the only girl within the Championship doesn't help me to have a direct term of evaluation, but being part of this team give me the best parameters at all!"
