James Thompson continues Europa Cup defence with Hartmann Honda Racing
Hartmann Honda Racing and James Thompson have resumed their co-operation which last year led to third place in the Danish Touringcar Championship and a win in FIA's official European Touring Car Cup. Right now the paring is leading this year's European Touring Car Cup, and it is a lead that the want to both defend and extend, when the second of the three rounds of this year's series takes place at Salzburgring in Austria at the end of July.
"Last month I was contacted by James, who asked about the possibilities of resuming our co-operation," team owner Hans Hartmann says. "We did the win the opening round this year in Portugal, and James indicated that he was very keen on us working together again. Actually, we would like to do the same."
Hartmann Honda Racing and James Thompson won the first of the two races at the opening round of the FIA European Touring Car Cup at the Braga circuit, and with third place in the second race, they are now holding the leading position in the series that they won last year. But since then the pair has not worked together.
"James and I have reached an agreement to the benefit and joy of both parties, so that we can continue the fantastic work, which since 2008 has given us several race wins and also a championship," Hans Hartmann says.
"Both parties have been in the garage, but now we are ready to put the car back into gear, so that we can move forward, and I am really pleased about this solution. We are used to working with James, and James knows our equipment and staff, so it will be nice to be able to continue, where we left off."
The next round of the FIA European Touring Car Cup takes place at July 24th-25th at Salzburgring. It is a circuit Hartmann Honda Racing has previous experience with, when they raced in the same series back in 2008. Apart from the defence of the FIA European Touring Car Cup, Hartmann Honda Racing and James Thompson will also take part in other racing series, including the Scandinavian Touring Car Cup.
