Tarquini wins and closes the gap on the Alfas

Conrero's Salvatore Deplano, who qualified his Alfa Romeo 156 in 19th position, did not take part in the race after suffering from a kidney colic during the warm up.

The engine cables were changed on Fabrice Walfisch's Honda and the Frenchman classified second in the morning warm-up behind team-mate Gabriele Tarquini.

In the morning warm up, both GDL cars driven by Moreno Soli and Stefano Valli went off at the Castrol corner but escaped with only a few scratches.

Start -- Giovanardi takes the lead at the start followed by Colciago . After the first two corners, Tarquini passes Colciago for second place .

Lap 1 -- Larini, fourth, goes off at the Gerhard Berger corner. Tarquini is 0.5 seconds behind Giovanardi. Top-10: 1-4-7-5-20-9-3-30-16-19

Lap 2 -- Larini comes into the pits to change his tyres. Giovanardi is defending his position from Tarquini, who sets the fastest lap time. Stefano Valli spins at the Gösser bend while in 8th position. Top-10: 1-4-7-5-20-9-3-18-16-14

Lap 3 -- Tarquini crosses the line side by side with Giovanardi. He makes a first attempt to pass the Alfa but drops back slightly. Sardelli overtakes Bernardoni for seventh, while Symanzick loses two places to Zadra and Lempinen.Top-10: 1-4-7-5-20-9-18-3-16-15

Lap 4 -- Moreno Soli goes off into the gravel and retires. Tarquini makes another attempt to get past the Alfa, pulling alongside on the pit straight. Walfisch is attacking Colciago for third place. T op-10: 1-4-7-5-20-9-18-3-16-15

Lap 5 -- Tarquini's Honda overtakes Giovanardi for the lead at the exit of the Castrol corner. Sardelli is on Lancelotti's tail for second in the Amateurs Trophy. Top-10: 4-1-7-5-20-9-18-3-16-15

Lap 6 -- Walfisch overtakes Colciago for third place, while Tarquini pulls out a gap over Giovanardi. Sardelli overtakes Lancelotti for sixth place. A stop and go penalty is awarded to Lempinen for a false start. Top-10: 4-1-5-7-20-18-9-3-16-15

Lap 7 -- Cayrolle chases Bernardoni for eighth place. Tarquini now leads Giovanardi by over a second, setting the fastest lap of 1:36.800. Top-10: 4-1-5-7-20-18-9-3-16-15

Lap 8 -- Tarquini continues to pull away from Giovanardi. Top-10: 4-1-5-7-20-18-9-3-16-15

Lap 9 -- Lancelotti, in 7th place, is being closely chased by Bernardoni and Carolle, the three within one second. Sardelli is closing on De Lorenzi for fifth place and is lapping over one second faster than him. Top-10: 4-1-5-7-20-18-9-3-16-15

Lap 10 -- Romana Bernadoni runs wide at the Castrol corner while in 8th place and trying to dive inside Lancellotti; she loses the position to Cayrolle. Lampinen comes in for his stop and go. Top-10: 4-1-5-7-20-18-9-16-3-15

Lap 11 -- Cayrolle is attacking Lancelotti for third position in the Amateurs Trophy. Sardelli is only 7 tenths behind De Lorenzi. Top-10: 4-1-5-7-20-18-9-16-3-15

Lap 12 -- Cayrolle spins at the Castrol corner, dropping behind team-mate Zadra in tenth position. Giovanardi is now 1.7 seconds behind Tarquini, who takes the chequered flag ahead of Giovanardi, Walfisch and Colciago. De Lorenzi maintains his fifth position and wins the Amateurs Trophy by six tenths from Sardelli. Top-10: 4-1-5-7-20-18-9-16-3-15
