Duncan Huisman 10th in Spa Francorchamps
Duncan Huisman was back in the Porsche Supercup this weekend. At the track of Spa Francorchamps during the Belgian Grand Prix Formula 1, the Dutch driver raced for the Molitor Racing Team again. Duncan claimed an 8th position on the grid during the qualification sessions on Saturday and managed to finish the race on Sunday on a 10th position. A collission with local "hero" David Saelens made the Belgian from hero to Zero, when he and Duncan clashed.
Starting from an 8th position, Duncan had a good start from behind the safetycar. The weatherconditions in Spa where as always unpredictable but surely rainy. The wet track and the spray it causes behind the cars made it difficult to see the other drivers. Huisman and Saelens clashed when Saelens was breaking a little early while Duncan couldn't break enough due to the wet track conditions which made the two run into each other. Saelens rear tyre was damaged and could't finish the race.
The clash of Duncan Huisman and David Saelens had some extra impact on the race. While Saelens and Huisman were coming out of the escape route Saelens hit Alex, breaking down his cooler and making him retire from the race. "It is a shame that this happens" said Alex. I am champion already so I didn't really loose anything, but still this is not the way you should coming back on the track after an accident. He should have come back behind my car and not in my car"
Duncan's Porsche couldn't get the right pace back because the steering was damaged and the car had trouble going left.
After all the weekend was a good way to end a Supercup season in which Duncan performed well for the Molitor Racing Team and both the team and Duncan learned a lot from the experience they had together.
