Victory for Chevrolet

This promissing headline also cover the fact that Henrik Lundgaard was forced to retire in the final race after close contact with a competitor but does not influence on the joy of the fine results achieved this weekend.

The first race was a repetition of training, qualifying and warm up with Henrik Lundgaard in the lead and Michael close behind. A very convincing performance but no doubt that the main task in the second race would be to stay out of trouble starting down the field.

The first couple of laps were done without any problems but as Martin Jensen touches Henriks cars at the entrance to the long curve at the far end of the track it starts a chain reaction.

Henrik is send into a powerslide alongside the field but manages without loss of position. When they clear the curve at the start of the long straight they touch again sending both through the sandbox costing them several positions. Michael secured his fifth place gaining a bunch of points to his scoreboard.

For the final race Michael got pole due to the results from race one and two. When the red lights went off he pulled away leaving the field behind. Lap by lap he increased the lead into astonishing nine seconds when the race was over. Bearing in mind that all 23 drivers had qualified within 1.5 seconds it was indeed a very impressive performance.

For Henrik it was a miserable race. Once again close racing and a touch by a competitor meant that a piece of the bodywork was bent into the front tyre producing a massive smoke indicating serious problems that would make it impossible to see the chequered flag.

After this weekend Michael has taken the lead in the drivers championship with Henrik in fourth place. In the teams championship Chevrolet has a clear lead.

Now a well deserved break for three weeks awaits the team before all teams will meet again at Jyllands-Ringen.
