FREE RACING DRIVER SEMINAR IN CHICAGO- THE ROAD TO INDY STARTS HERE!

Many of the top drivers in professional auto racing now come from sports car road racing. For a free taste of what's involved in getting into this exciting sport and where it can lead, don't miss a series of introductory ground schools presented Fridays evenings, February 28th, March 7th, 14th and 21st, 1997 at the Holiday Inn, Rolling Meadows, Illinois.

Topics covered include the kinds of cars that can race (starting out, you supply your own), the personal safety gear required, racing rules and driving techniques. Three types of road racing are offered- open track time trials, vintage/historic racing and current era wheel-to-wheel racing.

Chicago area racing group North Suburban Sports Car Club and their Illinois-Wisconsin sanctioning body, Midwestern Council of Sports Car Clubs, have presented the free and open-to-the-public seminars every year since 1961. The classes use skilled speakers and multi-media presentations. Several hundred potential racing drivers, race staff members and fans are expected to attend.

The clubs point with pride to members who have done well in the pro ranks, but quickly acknowledge that most of their new pilots will use their auto racing as an exciting hobby. But they add that the basic race driving training they provide is the correct first step for a new driver with the skill and determination to make it into the big time.

The free seminars are the last Friday of February and the first three Fridays in March at the Holiday Inn, 2501 Algonquin Road (Ill. Rte. 62) Rolling Meadows IL, just north of the I-90 and I-53 intersection. Registration, films and racing equipment displays start at 7 PM. Classroom sessions start promptly at 7:30 PM.
