FREE SILVERSTONE WORLD SERIES TICKETS GO ONLINE
FREE TICKETS for the UK round of the 2008 World Series by Renault are now available, the event taking place on 7th/8th June at Silverstone.
The dedicated website worldseriesbyrenault. com allows fans to request up to four free tickets for the event that attracted a record 135,000 spectators last season.
Demonstration runs by ING Renault F1 Team, parades of historic Renault rally, formula, and sports cars and off-track family entertainment add to the thrills provided by all the on-track action from World Series by Renault, ELF Renault Clio Cup and Formula Renault UK
The event marks the first time the two UK series will race on the full Silverstone Grand Prix circuit and will be the start of the second half of the Clio Cup and Formula Renault UK seasons.
Paul Rivett won the Clio Cup race held on World Series weekend at Donington Park last season on only his second appearance of the year and is looking forward to repeating his success.
He said: "World Series was great for me last year and it's a great showcase for all the drivers in front of such a massive crowd. It's definitely a race every driver wants to win."
A MINUTE WITH PETER FELIX
PETER FELIX: "After 16 years of Club-level racing, and no disrespect to the guys I raced before, the calibre of driver is totally different. I'm behind at the moment, but hopefully I'll make the top-six soon."
A short journey this week?
PF: Yes, I live in Allestree which is only 20 minutes away, but I've only tested here once in the Clio Cup car even though it's so close.
How's the new team?
PF: It's going well. I joined Full Speed mainly to help with data but also because our team at Valtra couldn't commit to three or even four days away, but they're still supporting me.
How's the season going?
PF: I told people I wanted to be in the top 10 by September and we came ninth at Rockingham so reasonably pleased. It's a massive learning curve though with each new circuit we go to.
Any Donington highlights?
PF: I've had some good races here in the MG Trophy, Mini Seven and Stock Hatch, mostly in the wet because we get a lot of rain in the Midlands! Maybe that would help me this weekend.
- ALEX MacDowall was the quickest driver during official Clio Cup testing at Croft on 23rd April with a time of 1min 32.578s. In the best weather conditions of the day, the teenager edged out Phil Glew and Nick Adock at the North Yorkshire venue, which hosts rounds nine and 10 in four weeks' time. Glew led the times in the wet ahead of Derek Pierce.
- RENAULT SPORT UK's website has undergone a revamp of its driver pages, adding full driver profiles to all three Championship pages as well as an image wall showing every driver. Full race footage from rounds three and four at Rockingham has also been uploaded to the site, giving fans the chance to watch Ben Winrow and Paul Rivett's victories.
- LAP RECORDS in the new Clio Cup car have been broken at the first two race meetings. Dry weather will see the feat achieved this weekend with David Shepherd's time of 1min 24.658s set last year when he started on slicks in wet but drying conditions. The bold move saw him spin early on but set a time more than one second clear of the field.
CHAMPAGNE MOMENT: Podium celebrations for the remainder of the Clio Cup and Formula Renault UK season will be sponsored by R.Sport Ltd who are supplying champagne for both championships. The longterm Renault Technical Support team juggles logistics to support all three Renault Sport UK series and supply new cars to UK teams.
