Key Motorsport clinches third FF1600 Championships in three years.

Montréal (September 22, 2003) - Rookie Olivier Comeau (#33 Van Diemen/Location Pelletier/Relais Pneu-Mécanique Sherbrooke/Key Motorsport) came into the weekend in Saint-Eustache with a clear mission in mind, which was to win the 2003 Formula Ford 1600 Championship in the series' ultimate round. When the checkered flag fell on the Grand Prix of Saint-Eustache, Comeau accomplished his mission.

The 19-year-old from Sherbrooke, Qc. rocketed into the lead after starting from the pole position on the opening lap and was never challenged en route to a 6.5-second victory over Mathieu Audette. With the win, Comeau finishes first in the standings, 22 points ahead of Marcel Lafontaine and 38 points ahead of Louis Morin. Comeau also wins the Rookie Championship 44-points ahead of Mathieu Audette.

"It feels unbelievable. I can't thank the team enough for all they've done for me, (owner) Steve Djelebian, and everybody on the team that works their butts off during the week and on Saturday," said Olivier. "I'm lucky enough to be a part of it to just drive the race car. Head mechanic, Éric Côté, and the Key Motorsport crew just gave me an absolutely perfect race car for the start of the race today. I was able to just keep pulling a gap, and not even pushing the car that hard, since the track was really slippery. It was really easy to make mistakes, and I was just pacing myself and the car was so good. To be able to cross the finish line as a champion, I just can't believe it. It's rare that I'm at a loss for words. It means a lot to me. I can't put into words how much this means to me, and how prestigious it is to be the Provincial champion. Hopefully, we'll move forward," concluded Olivier.

Since their 2002 debut in the Provincial Formula Ford Championship, Key Motorsport has since claimed two Championships, nine victories, fifteen podiums in only 14 races.
