Clio Cup China fleet has arrived in China for the first time
After successfully introducing the Formula Campus into Asia in 1997 and Formula Renault 2.0 in 2000, in February 2009 FRD introduced the new Clio Cup series into China. A fleet of 24 brand-new 09' Clio III racing cars has recently arrived in Mainland China for the first time, and the Clio Cup China drivers are very excited for the upcoming race in the motherland. International superstar Aaron Kwok will also compete in the Challenge Show racing weekend (C1) with his brand new Clio III racing car at Shanghai International Circuit (SIC) on August 22nd & 23rd.
The Clio Cup China series traveled to the renowned Le Mans Bugatti track in France on April 25th, where the Clio Cup China drivers all had a real taste of the new version of Clio and a good time on the historic Le Mans track. The fleet then traveled to the well-known Nurburgring Nordschleife track in Germany- a.k.a. "The Ring". Along with Renault race teams and drivers from all over the world, Clio Cup China drivers put up a good show for the renowned Nurburgring 24-hour racing weekend. The Clio Cup China drivers are now getting ready for their first points race of the season.
Mr. Aaron Kwok first started his car racing experience in 1997 when he joined an FRD Racing School course and graduated with a professional racing license that same year. Aaron indicated that he is a big fan of cars and likes the feeling of racing on a professionally designed track. He tends to go on track and do a few laps whenever his work schedule allows. Aaron Kwok will compete in the Clio Cup China series in August and it will be his first experience with the 09 Clio racing car. He indicated that he is very excited about the race. Clio, a supermini car produced by the French automobile manufacturer Renault, has been utilized by Renault Sport Technologies to create one of the most successful one-make touring car series in Europe since 1990. As of 2008, Clio Cup has been expanded to 14 countries in Europe and Latin America.
Other than the August race, Clio Cup China will then travel with C1 to Chengdu in September and then Beijing A1 racing weekend in October.
