Clio Cup China travels back to the Renault Race Festival at Nurburgring
When: Thursday 13 to Sunday 16, May, 2010
Where: Nurburgring, Germany
Event: Renault Race Festival
The Clio Cup China fleet was split into two squads, with one stayed in China, greeting the race fans from Pan Delta and the other traveled back to the renowned Nurburgring, Germany at Renault's invitation, attending the popular Renault Race Festival on May 13th-16th, 2010.
The Nurburgring, generally being called the "Green Hell" by race enthusiasts without any sense of irony, has stood as the definitive one-lap test of man and machine for more than 80 years. The Nordschleife features interesting curves, variable surfaces, rapidly changing weather, dramatic climbs and drops, and a straightaway over a mile long where terminal speeds can be reached. Nestled among the endless dark green of the mountain Eifel in western Germany, winding through 72 corners and raising from 292 meters green pines around the Nurburg castle ruins, all to qualify the 25.378 kilometers' Green Hell second to nothing.
The Renault Race Festival is known for the packed grid and the crowded spectators. Fans gathered there a week earlier to pick their favorite spot inside the ring to watch the race. Barbecue, beer, joyful crowd (over 200,000), splendid combination of ancient & modern view and engine roar to treat your ears at the open-to-public circuit, truly a gift only the Germans could give us!
"Once you go there, you just turn one of those 'Green Hell' addicts and the experience of roaring down the mountain way at 6th gear to pass the sweeping curves just keeps haunting you ever after. There's no rehab for this and the only thing you can do is come back and take another green hell shot." ---- Oliver Lee, Clio Cup China driver.
The Renault Race Festival supports the renowned 24h Nurburgring Annex-race. Drivers from Renault series around the world will race on the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife + GP Circuit [25km/lap], with the race consisting of 1 formation lap and 4 race laps.
