1998 Race Season Opener to Feature Female Driver, Marybeth Harrison

Road racing in Vancouver, Canada starts this weekend with a full schedule that includes GT, improved production and vintage cars, as well as the open wheeled Formula 1600s. Local driver Marybeth Harrison will be features in the Formula 1600s.

Marybeth will be driving the Fountain Tire Racing Euroswift in her first fight for the Canadian Formula Drivers Association Championship.

Although unable to get any pre-season testing in, Marybeth was able to log almost three hours of track time as part of her PPG Pace Car Driving responsibilities at this past weekends CART FedEx Championship Series in Long Beach.

"I was very thankful to have the chance to get behind the wheel before this weekends race," states Marybeth. "Im hoping itll help calm some of my pre-race jitters!"

The 110 hp. F1600 its as race-ready as possible. "Weve gone to great lengths to prepare the race vehicle," states Marybeths crew chief, Marty Knoll of MK Technologies. "Were hoping the hard work will pay off with a great result."
