Events in Montréal and at Mosport-- Mathieu and Rémy Audette racing this weekend, on different tracks!
Blainville (Québec), August 23, 2010.- The Audette Racing team will once again be represented in the Canadian Touring Car Championship as well as in the Formula Tour 1600 series this weekend, but contrary to the last GP de Trois-Rivières, Mathieu and Rémy Audette will be competing on two different tracks, Mathieu in Ontario (Mosport) and Rémy in Montréal (NASCAR weekend). Their goal remains the common link : victory!
On Mosport's fast track, near Oshawa, Mathieu Audette has had a lot of success since the start of the season, always finishing amongst the Top 4, including one victory, in the four rounds contested this year. After suffering from mechanical problems at the start of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières two weekends ago, the driver of the Dimensions Doors Acura RSX still managed to secure himself a podium by placing second on Sunday. Mathieu promisingly confides : " we want to give it our all, the car is great and we have had good finishes here all year ". For Mathieu Audette, who admits to loving the Mosport track, he remains hopeful of winning the title this year : " we're currently fourth in the championship. With a win this weekend, we can hope to climb to second or third place. Everything would then play out in Mirabel on the last competition weekend in September, and when you leave the title resting on the results of just one weekend, anything can happen. But for sure the most important thing is to perform well this weekend. I am very confident " he adds.
Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières winner at the helm of his open wheel Van Diemen, prepared by the Britain West Racing team, Rémy Audette intends to renew this success among his competitors on the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve : " I've been waiting impatiently for this event. Last year, I was leading the race when a problem with the carburetor abruptly ended my day. I've got unfinished business and I'm going for nothing less than the win ! ".
Rémy Audette, 2007 Formula Tour champion, is confident that the car, prepared by the reputable David Clubine, will be as powerful as in Trois-Rivières : " there is only one race on the program for this weekend so the pressure is high but to be honest, in cases like this, I think that there's more pressure on the drivers going for the championship. I don't have to worry about that so it leaves me free to focus on my sole goal of winning " adds the Audette Racing driver.
This season, the Audette Racing Team is entering Mathieu Audette in the Canadian Touring Car Championship and his brother Rémy Audette in a partial open wheel program consisting of Formula Tour 1600 and the American Formula 2000 series. The team benefits from the support of Dimensions Doors, Novatech, Acura Plus Blainville, Les Extrusions du Nord, Verre Select, Jeld Wen, OPM, Amusements Spectaculaire, Les Moulures PFJV, Mec-Inov and Omnitech.
The two rounds of the Canadian Touring Car Championship take place on Saturday at 5:30 pm and Sunday at 11:30 am at the Grand Prix of Mosport, where American Le Mans Series (prototype and GT categories) will also be competing. The Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve will host the Formula Tour 1600's only race at 10 am on Sunday, just prior to the NASCAR competitions (event information presented in Pole-Position Magazine, available in newsstands throughout Québec).
