Mark Fish Motorsport's Rick Pearson will be looking to continue a run of form stretching back five years when the ELF Renault Sport UK Clio Cup makes its second visit of the season to Brands Hatch this weekend.

The last time the Clio Cup visited the Kent track was for the 2000 season opener back in April. On the Grand Prix circuit, Pearson qualified third and finished the race in fifth position.

Coming originally from Kent, Fulham-based Pearson regards the famous venue as his home circuit and will be hoping for a plethora of support as he launches his bid for second position in the championship. "I always look forward to racing on the Indy circuit," he says. "I saw my first motor race at Brands Hatch and I always manage to get good results there. It's great that the big crowds that Brands always attracts are able to see the majority of the circuit, plus they are knowledgeable and enthusiastic and that adds to the occasion."

His Mark Fish run, ActiveShop liveried Clio 172 has performed exceptionally well in recent rounds, claiming pole position at Snetterton and fourth on the grid at Donington last time out. Pearson also showed strongly in pre-race tests at Brands Hatch last week and, despite dedicating the day to set up work, ran as high as second fastest in the morning session.

After a four week summer break in the TOCA schedule, Pearson is eager to get back in the car in full race trim. "We've gone really well in recent rounds, " he explains. "It will be nice to have my team mate, Paul Lomax back alongside me for round ten. Brands Hatch was the scene of Paul's monumental series of barrel rolls in the opening round of the Cup and since then, he's been competing sporadically when work commitments allow. Testing went well though and I feel confident that we should be right in the thick of the action."

Round ten of the Renault Sport UK Clio Cup takes place at Brands Hatch on August 28th.
