VILLENEUVE, GENE AND CORTHALS FINISH THE RACE

SEAT achieves its objectives at the 12 Hours of Spa

As scheduled, the 12 Hours of Spa Francorchamps ended at 3 a.m. on Sunday, one of the most significant races of the Belgian Touring Car season, which is included in the Belgian Touring Car Series calendar.

The race was won by Nicolas de Crem, Julien Schroyen and Marc Goossens, and car number 38, the SEAT Leon Supercopa driven by Jacques Villeneuve, Pierre Yves Corthals and Jordi Gene, crossed the finish line in 28th place. The team's classification was offset first by electrical problems followed by something breaking in the gearbox, which led to replacing it in record time.

The experience was extremely positive for the team registered by SEAT Belgium in collaboration with the Club SEAT and RED (Responsibility Experience Defensive). They fulfilled their objective stated at the beginning of the race, which was to join three drivers from different championship events at such a significant competition. In this respect, the team's objectives were fully met, since the Leon Supercopa demonstrated its category by covering several laps with the best recorded times.

Jacques Villeneuve said "it was a magnificent experience. Soon on I saw that the car was highly competitive and we managed to drive at an excellent pace. I'm very satisfied at participating in this race. The atmosphere was great during the weekend and Jordi and Pierre Yves were fantastic team mates." Pierre Yves Corthals was less enthusiastic, as he was racing on home soil and expected a better result. He said he was "a bit sad for not finishing in a higher position due to mechanical problems, but on the whole the experience of sharing a car with Jacques and Jordi was wonderful." Jordi Gene shared his opinion, and said "I think we could've even won in our category, but in an endurance race there are bound to be problems. Despite everything, the pace of the competition was always good and I'm happy to have been able to lend my support to SEAT Belgium in this special race."
