Lambert Takes GTS Pole With Liddell On Top in GT
Most, Czech Republic, Saturday 4th August 2001: Bruno Lambert in the RML Saleen S7 took pole position in the GTS class in a short but effective burst of just 5 laps on the exciting Autodrom Most. On his first flying lap Lambert took eight tenths of a second off his fastest time from yesterdays warm-up session, qualifying with a time of 1:28.347.
Everything went to plan for RML who had decided to go out and put a good lap together at the beginning of the 30 minute qualifying session. After setting the pace the car suffered gear box problems with Bruno being unable to downshift. The second placed GTS car, the Konrad Motorsport 911 GT2 could only manage to finish in fifth, behind three GT cars.
PK Sport Porsche leads the GT class, their second class pole in two races. Robin Liddell was behind the wheel of the number 60 car as it clocked a time of 1:31.370. Robin took the car into the pits for the tyre pressure to be adjusted and at the end of the session returned to the track to try and improve his time, but ended up taking a detour into the gravel after spinning at turn 3. Luckily the car did not suffer any damage and the team are looking for a winning performance in the race tomorrow. Paco Orti finished second in class after an impressive drive by Wolfgang Kaufmann, just missing out on snatching pole by 0.512 seconds.
Car 73, Skea Racing International, finished the session last after it suffered a broken drive shaft just 10 minutes into qualifying, it signalled the end of their participation and was towed back to the pits. It promises to be an exciting GT battle with all cars finishing within 4 seconds of the Youles / Liddell Porsche. <pre> Round 4 - Most - GTS and GT Qualifying - 30 minutes
