Audi Signs On as Official Car of the NATCC

Tampa, Florida -- Audi of America Inc. has secured the designation of Official Car of the North American Touring Car Championship. As official car of the Championship, Audi will supply the official pace car which will travel with the Championship to all 1996 venues.

The Official Pace Car, with modifications made under the supervision of five time 24 Hours of Daytona winner, Amos Johnson, (Director of NATCC Race Operations) is an Audi A4 quattro, finished in a striking blue color. Racing seats and harnesses have been installed along with BBS Wheels and Michelin Pilot ultra high performance radials. The A4's suspension has been modified in preparation for the special rigors of the race track.

The Audi A4 Quattro is the reigning Super Touring World Championship car having been driven to the win in the Super Touring World Cup by Frank Biela at Paul Ricard Circuit in France in October 1995.

"It's no secret that Audi is aggressively pursuing Super Touring Championships in many countries world wide," said Marc Trahan, product planning manager at Audi of America. "It is logical for Audi to be associated with the NATCC. We're very interested in the North American Championship becoming a success."
