Reigning Australian Super Truck Racing Champion Inky Tullock has qualified on pole for round five of the Continental Tyres series.

Driving his CAT-backed Freightliner, Tulloch recorded a 1 minute 45.0425 second time on the trucks' first outing on Winton's new longer track layout. Tulloch's nearest rival is MAN driver Glen Dobson who was almost two seconds slower than the pacesetter.

Third fastest is the SRZ Kenworth of Joe Scarcella, which was four tenths of a second ahead of the MAN of Luke Sieders, and the Kenworths of Daniel Bajema, John Bomberle and Darren Palmer.

Five times champion Shell's Rodney Crick tale of woe continued. In early practice his new Volvo suffered a blown turbo and subsequent fire, and barely made the second session of qualifying. With a coupled-together and fragile turbo he was seventh fastest overall, edging out Palmer and also ahead of Scania of Batty Butwell. The best of the Light Trucks was the Isuzu of Ken Bedggood who outpointed Mark Morton and series leader Graeme Spencer.
