July 12, 2003 (Toronto, Canada): Ashley Taws and the "Be Anything With Barbie" race car will start from the second row when the green flag drops on tomorrow's Canadian Formula Ford Championship race at the Toronto Indy. After setting the ninth fastest time in yesterday's session, Taws kicked it up a notch today to put herself fourth on the starting grid.

The nineteen-year-old race driver from Newmarket, Ontario, has been the focus of much media and fan attention this week following the announcement of her return to competition after a long recovery from a traffic accident in December. Today, Taws got back into her high-speed groove.

"As I did more and more laps, it all started to come back to me," said Taws. "I made lots of mistakes early in the session, but by the end I was doing much better. I'm pleased with the way things went because I was constantly improving. That was a good feeling. There are a few places around the track where I can still do better, but I should be able to work those out during the race. I can definitely go faster."

Last year, Taws claimed pole position at the Toronto Indy, but had a terrible start. A stall a few laps later put her dead last, but she stormed back through the field to finish fourth. This year, she's hoping to convert a fourth-place start into a podium finish.

"The Barbie car was handling well, thanks to the work of the AIM Autosport team," Taws said. "I'm looking forward to some good racing tomorrow and hope I can move up to get a top-three finish."

Tomorrow's twenty-lap race is scheduled to start at 3:45pm, following the Champ Car World Series race.
