Matt LeBlanc, best known for his role as Joey Tribbiani in hit US television comedy Friends, has been announced as a host of the revamped BBC Top Gear show.
The American, a long-time car and motor racing fan, will join presenter Chris Evans when the new series returns to screens in May.
LeBlanc, who is also due to start shooting the fifth series of Anglo-American comedy Episodes in April, is the fastest-ever participant of Top Gear's 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' segment, with a best lap time of 1m 42.1 seconds in the Kia cee'd that has been put to the test by a host of celebrities.
Speaking about his new role, LeBlanc said: “As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honoured and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter. What a thrill!”
Evans added: “Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear.
"Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year.”
In addition to his success on track on the main show, LeBlanc also recently presented the standalone spin-off – Top Gear: The Races.
