ELDORA TO HOST $10,000 FINALE AS OHIO SPRINT SPEEDWEEK HAS A NEW TWIST
PONCE INLET, FL - (1/22/00) The Speedweek Committee for the 18th Annual Ohio Outlaw Sprint Speedweek has announced the dates and locations of the $200,000 All Star Circuit of Champions sanctioned series to be held Sunday, June 25 through Saturday, July 1, with July 2 the rain date for Saturday's race only.
The original (and often copied) format of seven consecutive nights of sprint car racing at seven different Ohio tracks will continue, however, the alignment of the tracks within the week will have a new twist. For the first time ever, Attica Raceway Park at Attica under the direction of Gene Frankart will kick off the action-packed, mid-summer tour on Sunday, June 25. The following night, Wayne Phillips, in his second year as owner of Wayne County Speedway at Orrville, will present the Monday show on June 26.
First-time track owner, Jim Ford will give Fremont Speedway at Fremont a complete make- over in the off-season in preparation for his first turn at a Speedweek show on Tuesday, June 27. Next, the haulers head south of Chillicothe to the Karshner's high-banked track, K-C Raceway at Alma for the mid-week Wednesday, June 28 race.
For better fan viewing, Ed Skillman, back at the helm of Sharon Speedway, is moving the pit area outside his Hartford oval which hosts the fifth leg of Speedweek on Thursday, June 29. The action moves to Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday, June 30 where Jeff and Mark Jarvis roll out the red carpet at their quarter-mile track, located just west of Lima in Allentown.
Back by popular demand, and for the first time since 1994, the $10,000 Saturday, July 1st finale returns to the home of Ohio Speedweek's founder, Earl Baltes and his famed high-banked half-mile Eldora Speedway in Rossburg. Sunday, July 2nd will be held as a precautionary rain date for the Saturday show. For more information call the All Stars at (904) 756-9225 or visit www.allstarsprint.com.
