The motorbike category of this year's Paris-Dakar Rally was won by Fabrizio Meoni (KTM-Michelin) while Jutta Kleinschmidt/Andreas Schulz (Mitsubishi-Michelin) finished first in the car classification.
In the US East 125cc Supercross Championship, Travis Pastrana (Suzuki-Michelin) won at Indianapolis, New Orleans, Daytona and Minneapolis where he moved into the provisional championship lead.
In the first Spanish Motocross Grand Prix, Michelin finished on the podium in all three categories with Alessio Chiodi (3rd, Yamaha 125-Michelin), Pit Beirer (2e, Yamaha 250-Michelin) and Andrea Bartolini (2nd, Husqvarna 500-Michelin).
World Rally Championship
Michelin has won the first three rounds of the 2001 World Rally Championship: the Monte Carlo and Portugal Rallies with Tommi Mäkinen/Risto Mannisenmäki (Mitsubishi-Michelin) and the Swedish Rally with Harri Rovanpera/Risto Pietilainen (Peugeot-Michelin).
Ralf Schumacher (BMW Williams F1-Michelin) qualified a remarkable third for the Malaysian Grand Prix before finished fifth in the race to score Michelin's first points of the year.
American Le Mans Series
Victory in the inaugural race of the 2001 ALMS calendar at the Texas Motor Speedway went to Tom Kristensen/Rinaldo Capello (Audi R8-Michelin). The Sebring 12 Hours was won by Rinaldo Capello/Michele Alboreto/Laurent Aiello (Audi R8-Michelin) ahead of their teammates Emmanuelle Pirro/Franck Biela/Tom Kristensen (Audi R8-Michelin).
