Next week, Barcelona will play host to the first collective testing sessions of the 2007 World Series by Renault season. On Monday and Tuesday, the young talents competing in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 will take to the track before giving way to the World Series Formula Renault 3.5 on Wednesday and Thursday.
World Series: Move replaces Iaconelli, Ciompi signed to Eurointernational
The reigning Team champions Interwetten.com have announced that the Russian Daniil Move is to join their ranks as teammate of the Mexican driver Salvador Duran. Move drove in the F3000 Masters last season. At Eurointernational, the second drive has gone to the Italian Alessandro Ciompi, who also makes the switch from F3000. Three seats are yet to be filled at Pons Racing, GD Racing and Tech 1 Racing.
Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0: the line-up is nearly complete
Though certain teams (Jenzer Motorsport, Cram Competition, Omicron Racing) are yet to announce their line-ups, others have already revealed ambitious plans to take the title by appointing some experienced drivers. Nelson Panciatici (SG Formula), Oliver Oakes (Motopark Academy), Stefano Coletti, Brendon Hartley and Jaime Alguersuari (Epsilon Red Bull), Martin Plowman and Henkie Waldschmidt (Prema Power Team) will all be in the hunt for the title. The two days testing in Montmelo should give us an initial idea of how the field will shape up!
Eurocup Megane Trophy: the French on top!
After losing out to a Belgian (Jan Heylen) and a Dutchman (Jaap van Lagen), the French finally brought home the Eurocup Megane Trophy in 2007. The title-winning Tech 1 Racing team will be able to call upon the services of Dimitri Enjalbert (French Clio Cup runner-up) and Sebastien Dhouailly. TDS will be welcoming Ludovic Badey back into the fold, who looks determined to take up where he left off last season. Other Eurocup regulars such as Bernhard Ten Brinke (Equipe Verschuur), Renaud Kuppens (TBR) and Ralph Meichtry (Race Performance) have already confirmed they will be taking part. The complete entry list will be announced by the Organizing Committee on March 20.
