ADAM TAKES FOURTH WIN OF 2008
CR Scuderia's Adam Christodoulou said he would be back on top at Thruxton this weekend and he wasn't joking. The 18 year-old was blindingly fast in qualifying, taking pole position for both races. He converted his first pole into a win in race one but was penalised in race two when he was deemed to have jumped the start. He continues to lead the Formula Renault UK Championship.
Race one at Thruxton also produced a good result for Ryuji Yamamoto who fought his way up to finish fifth. Unfortunately it was Ryuji who provided all the drama in race two when he rolled his car on lap three after making contact with James Calado, luckily walking away unharmed.
Scott Jenkins continues to demonstrate great race pace and is working hard on improving his qualifying performance and Sten Pentus, who is also working on this, came through in race two to take his best finish of the year in eighth place.
"Qualifying was spot on at Thruxton; the car handled like a dream, the team did their job, I did mine and we couldn't have asked for a better result. All I had to do then was finish it off with two race wins. I got away okay at the start of race one and managed to keep Riki (Christodoulou) behind me all the way to the chequered flag. I inched forward very slightly in race two and soon got the call that I had jumped the start. I guess they watch you like hawks when you are on pole and those couple of inches were enough for a penalty. The marshals called me in to serve my drive-thru penalty but the safety car had just come out so I had to wait even l onger in the pitlane to get the green light. I then had to go back a few laps later and serve it all over again as I had come in while the safety car was out! There isn't a lot you can do after losing so much time as you can't get anywhere near the points. I took fastest lap though and broke the lap record too that helped the points situation a bit. I'm still leading and I'm going to Croft in two weeks confident of some good results."
"I'm satisfied with the first race since my goal was to finish within the top five. I enjoyed the battles I had and was able to watch my rivals carefully and wait for the right moments to overtake. I learned a lot during that first race, it was just a bit of shame that I had some minor issues with the car in qualifying. The start of race two was good and the car felt okay so I wish I hadn't had the accident. It was the first time I had ever rolled in a crash, an d hopefully the last."
"I struggled for grip in race one, losing places at the start, but I made them up again and we changed the car a bit for race two. The car handled much better in race two and I was able to move up from 14th to eighth. I was going for seventh when Surtees pushed me off the track and I spun on the grass, losing seven places. All in all, considering this was my first time racing at Thruxton I'm okay with the performance but could have done without being pushed off in race two."
"I had my best result of the year in race two but I am still not where I want to be. I will continue to work hard to improve on qualifying so that I can get better race results."

"I think the team performed exceptionally well this weekend. Adam's performance in both races sho ws how dominant he has become. He took a penalty for moving ever so slightly on the start but came back with the fastest lap of the race. We saw tremendous improvements from Ryuji and Scott throughout the weekend. Ryuji has moved on a lot this season and it was a pleasure to watch Scott in race two when he got the bit between his teeth and just went for it. Sten's performance is indicative of the steep learning curve he is on in Formula Renault."
