Bardon, Leicestershire, UK -- 15 June 2007: The AKA Cobra team heads off to Cheshire next week for rounds nine and ten of the Formula Renault UK Championship (23/24 June). The team tested well at Oulton Park so are hoping for a strong showing on Oulton's Island Circuit next weekend.
"Croft didn't go as well as we would have liked so we'll be looking to put things right at Oulton Park. At Oulton last year Jeremy put in the best performance I have ever seen from him. He had qualified low down the grid, because of an engine problem, but he came through, at a track that isn't known for good passing opportunities, and finished on the podium. All four AKA Cobra drivers tested well at Oulton so I am expecting top performances from them. The drivers all have the pace; we now need to convert that into results."
Adam Christodoulou (currently 3rd in Championship standings):
"Oulton Park is definitely one of the most exciting race tracks in the country. There are quite a few blind corners which separate the men from the boys. It is a track that has no mercy; if you make one mistake at any of the corners there is a big chance you will end up going off as the track is so twisty and quite narrow. I've never raced at the track before but I have a good idea that the start is going to probably be the most important part of the race. I think the whole team is going to be very strong around here, with all the recent data we've collected, and due to results they've had in the recent years. I'm looking forward to getting back in the car considering we haven't been in it since Croft. It should be a good weekend for myself, the team and our Championship!"
Jeremy Metcalfe (currently 6th in Championship standings):
"We're not sure what to expect from Oulton Park but we're hopeful we can put Croft behind us and show the sort of pace we know we should be capable of. I need to sort qualifying out, that has been the biggest problem over the last few race meetings. Oulton Park was a major highpoint for us last season with the double podium and it would be great to come away with similar results this time. We'll just have to wait and see what happens."
Chris Holmes (currently 9th in Championship standings):
"I have had a good build-up to Oulton both physically and mentally. I feel great and hopefully that will reflect in my on-track performance. After being quick there in the official test I feel confident of a good result. Croft was okay, considering the problems we had with the engine and other aspects, but I have re-focused and feel great. Also with Oulton being the track I came second at in Formula BMW last year I always look forward to returning, so fingers crossed!"
Nathan Caratti (currently 11th in Championship standings):
"I think I showed some decent speed at the last round at Croft so hopefully I can keep improving and continue that form onto the next round at Oulton Park. I am looking forward to racing there as it is one of the most exciting tracks we visit during the year."
