READY TO RACE!

Bardon, Leicestershire, UK -- 27 March 2007: The AKA Cobra Formula Renault team rounded off a busy winter test programme with a day at Oulton Park last Wednesday. Progress has been good for the newly-formed team with all four drivers performing well in the run up to the new season.

The 2007 Formula Renault Championship gets underway this weekend at Brands Hatch and all four AKA Cobra drivers are fired up and ready to race. It is only now that the teams will find out exactly where they stand compared to their competition but they are more than prepared for the battles that lie ahead.

Andrew Kirkaldy:

"I'm looking forward to another strong season in British Formula Renault. We have four very competitive drivers and they have been working hard and continually improving during winter testing. It's always hard to know exactly where you stand until the first qualifying session but we are confident of a strong performance at Brands Hatch this weekend."

Chris Niarchos:

"I'm extremely excited about the year that lies ahead of us. I'm very happy with the drivers' performance; they have consistently got stronger and faster with each test and you can literally see their confidence growing with each lap. With our test programme completed we are now set up for a fantastic season in Formula Renault."

Nathan Caratti:

"My goal for this season is to start by running well inside the top ten then, as the year goes on, inside the top five, challenging for consistent podium finishes. Winter testing was ok for me; I would have liked to have found more speed but we are working on that. The best measure for me is the pace of my team-mates so I will be working hard to make sure I am competitive. I'm especially looking forward to racing at Oulton Park and Donington as they are my favourite tracks."

Adam Christodoulou:

"The winter has gone pretty well for me; I'm still learning about the car and the tracks but I've been around the top five or six so it's looking good. My personal goals for this year are to be the best I can be and to finish in the top six of the Championship. It's hard to tell who will be our toughest competition, we'll find out at Brands, but a lot of it will come from my team-mates as they are all strong."

Chris Holmes:

"This is my first season in Formula Renault and so far I'm very pleased as testing has gone great for me, even better than I expected. My driving has improved and I've got my head around driving the Renault now. We're pleased to be on the pace but we also know we still have a lot of hard work to do. As far as the Championship goes I plan to take it one step at a time, making steady progress along the way, beating the other first year drivers and always giving 110%. I know all of the tracks we are going to be racing on apart from the Donington GP track which I will need to learn. I like all the tracks but I'm particularly looking forward to Thruxton as I've always gone well there. I can't wait!"

Jeremy Metcalfe:

"I've had a good winter; testing has gone well for me, particularly towards the end, and my driving has improved a lot. My target this year is the Championship and that is what I will be fighting for from the outset. The competition is going to come from Fortec but we're ready to take them on. I know the tracks well, I've got used to the new car now and I'm looking forward to getting out there and getting the job done."

Race one is scheduled to start at 1210hrs on Sunday at Brands Hatch, with race two getting underway at 1730hrs.
