A-LEVEL COMMITMENTS LIMIT BRATT'S SNETTERTON RUNNING
Formula Renault UK sensation Will Bratt departed official testing at Snetterton Circuit today a trifle frustrated having gained little meaningful running due to persistent heavy rain at the 1.95-mile Norfolk venue.
Rightly regarded as one of the best wet weather drivers in the category, the Adderbury 17-year-old found himself uncharacteristically struggling for grip during both of the day's three and a half hour sessions.
With the weather gradually worsening as the day wore on, Will's fastest lap from the morning session, 1m 19.129 seconds (88.80mph), proved to be his best overall. A lap of 1m 19.427 seconds (88.47mph) in the afternoon, however, did see him break into the top 10 for that particular session.
Unfortunately though, Will is unable to take part in day two of testing at Snetterton tomorrow, Thursday, 9th March, due to school commitments. Therefore, he is now looking ahead to next week's test at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, in Kent.
"Things certainly went better for us in the afternoon and we were reasonably happy to finish the second session inside the top 10", commented Will. "However, we were still a fair way from where we wanted to be, and from where we would have expected to be in the conditions, so overall I am quite disappointed.
"Realistically we only had the benefit of one truly clear lap in the afternoon when it dried up a little but the car was working better than it did in the morning. We did struggle badly for grip throughout the day, especially in the morning as the new tyres we used weren't doing us any favours at all, so it has been a bit of a frustrating test."
With his vital A-level studies justly taking precedence tomorrow, Will returns to on track action with his Scorpio Motorsport team at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit next week.
