Mike Conway qualified in pole position in a challenging session that saw several different leaders and times tumble as the track dried. Nearly two-thirds of the drivers set their fastest times on the final lap but Conway emerged fastest to with two stunning laps at the end of the session to secure his place on the front row of the grid.

Paul Di Resta will line up second on the grid with a blistering series of laps in the second half of the session but the Manor Motorsport driver, who qualified in pole position for round five earlier in the day, was unable to match Conway's pace at the end of the session.

Westley Barber qualified in third place after leading the session at the midway point. The Comtec Racing with Duckhams driver, along with team-mate Susie Stoddard were running first and second at the end of the first half of the session, the point when most drivers returned to the pits, but they fell down the field as the times improved and ultimately qualified third and fourteenth respectively.

Conway survived a scare midway through the session when he collided with Falcon Motorsport driver Nik Goodfellow. The pair were approaching the Abbey chicane when Goodfellow, on a flying lap, tried to pass the championship leader. Goodfellow lost control under braking, spun sideways and clipped the side the Conway's car. Conway was able to continue without a problem but Goodfellow pulled over and retired from the session with a broken left-rear suspension.
