Formula Renault UK race winner Jeremy Metcalfe will be aiming to add to his victory tally in a little over a week's time when the third and fourth rounds of the season take place at Oulton Park Island Circuit, Cheshire, on 13th/14th May.
The 18-year-old AKA Lemac ace, who heads into the race meeting third in the championship standings, started his season well last month at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, recording a welcome podium finish during the first outing of the year and missing out on the race win by less than half a second.
However, with victory eluding him during the first two races of the year, the Fleet teenager is firmly focused on returning to the top step of the podium at Oulton Park next weekend, having tasted the winner's champagne during last November's winter series.
During official testing at the 2.2-mile circuit last week, Jeremy set the second fastest time overall -- only a couple of 10ths of a second adrift of the top spot -- even though he was nursing a minor neck injury at the time. Therefore, confidence is rightly high ahead of next weekend's races and the BillChaser-backed star isbidding for a rewarding outing
"Our confidence is definitely high ahead of next weekend and we know we could have gone faster during the Oulton Park test last week so things are certainly looking good for us", commented Jeremy.
"Oulton Park is a great track, a circuit which really challenges a driver, and it was interesting to see the difference in times during the test. There seemed to be more of a gap between the front-runners than compared with Brands Hatch so it'll be interesting to see if that's the case in qualifying.
"I'll be working to improve on my times in the second sector of the lap during the pre-race test as I know we can find some more pace there. The car felt brilliant last week, the AKA Lemac guys have got it working very well, and I think we can rightly hope for some podium finishes at the least next weekend."
Following official pre-race testing on Friday, 12th May, qualification and the third round of the season will take place on Saturday, 13th May. Round four, which is scheduled to be covered live on digital satellite station Motors TV, is set to take place at 15.00 on Sunday, 14th May. Motors TV broadcasts on channel 413 of the Sky Digital platform.
