Dominic Scheer Takes First Formula TR Victory at Miller Motorsports Park
SALT LAKE CITY -- Dominic Scheer took his first Formula TR victory this past weekend at the all new Miller Motorsports Park just outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. After overcoming gearbox problems on Saturday, Scheer in his Knudsen Racing prepared Formula Renault dominated Sunday's race claiming pole position and running away with the Final.
The event started off on Friday where Scheer used the test day to familiarize himself with the 4.5 mile long Miller Motorsports Park. Saturday proved to be a disappointing day for Scheer. After qualifying a solid fourth, the 16-year-old driver suffered a fourth gear failure during the race but was still able to bring the car across the line in fifth.
Saturday night the Knudsen Racing team went to work and repaired the gearbox and Sunday morning Scheer arrived at the circuit with something to prove. In Qualifying the Easykart backed driver claimed his first ever pole position by more than half a second over the second place driver. The race proved to be more of the same as Scheer dominated the race. The karting standout led every lap of the event en route to a margin of victory of 15 seconds.
"This is a great feeling; I really am excited about my first win." Scheer said after the race. "We had such a disappointing day on Saturday and to come back and run so well, it's a real testament to this Knudsen Racing team. Hopefully we will be able to carry this momentum into the next race in Reno. I really want to thank, Knudsen Racing, Easykart, Salomon Bendayan, Nathan Brown, Gatorz Eyewear, Freem, Kartech and everyone else who has helped me."
Dominic Scheer will be back in action Memorial Day weekend in the Easykart Championship Series. The Miami resident's next outing the in the Formula TR series will June 23 -- 25 in Reno, Nevada.
