"Dominic Scheer takes second consecutive victory in Formula TR"
RENO, Nev. -- Dominic Scheer scored his second consecutive victory in the Formula TR series last week in Reno Nev. Running at the 2.3 mile Reno Fernley Raceway Scheer was able to overcome a first lap spin to take the race one victory. The Knudsen Racing driver continued his current run of strong results by taking a commanding pole for race two only to be thwarted by a dirty track while leading.
Scheer started off the weekend very strong by taking his Gatorz Eyewear backed car to second place on the grid. With track temperatures reaching the mid triple digits, out laps for the all the drivers were very slick on the hot greasy track. The difficult conditions caught the young Scheer out as he spun during lap one of the race. Showing true grit Scheer kept his head down and charged back to the front. As the laps were winding down the Miami resident was knocking on the leader's door. Finally on the last lap Scheer was able to make the move to the lead and the checkered flag to claim his second consecutive Formula TR victory.
Race two saw Scheer continue to show his strength as he put his Knudsen Racing Mygale on the pole by seven tenths of a second. Scheer led from the start of race two, using his pole position to his full advantage. However coming through on of Reno Fernley Raceway's twisty corners the 16-year-old Scheer hit dirt on the tracking forcing him and the rest of the top 3 off the road. After Scheer recovered the car he found himself back to second place chasing down the leader. After catching the leader once, Scheer was held up by a lapped car and then just ran out of time crossing the stripe in second just behind the winner.
"This was a good weekend for us." commented Scheer after the race. The Knudsen Racing team did a great job setting up the car over the very bumpy track. It was great to get my second win and to do it with a last lap pass felt even better. It would have been nice to double up on the weekend but I just got caught out by dirt on the track then a lapped car, and there is not much you can do about that. I really want to thank Salomon Bendayan, my dad Edwin Scheer, my mom, Gatorz Eyewear, Formula TR, FreeM, and kartech motorsportrs, and and Jeff, John, Jimmy and Mike from Knudsen Racing without there help none of this would be possible."
Dominic Scheer will return to the cockpit of his Knudsen Racing machine in two weeks at California Speedway for the next round of the Formula TR series.
