Formula TR 2007 Championship Series Shapes Up

The 10 weekend, 20 round 2007 Formula TR Championship Series is shaping up well. With well over a month before the Championship Opener on the weekend of March 9-11 at California Speedway eight teams have committed to the series and will be presenting 17 cars for competition.

There are two classes in the Formula TR Championship Series, one for 1600cc and one for 2000cc powered Tatuus Renault open wheel race cars.

Thus far the teams have committed to bring eight 1600's and nine 2000's to the series this year. This will be the largest participation in the 2000cc class in many years.

Five teams recently organized their own private test day at California Speedway bringing 10 cars to the track. The teams spent the day orienting new drivers to the cars and the track while series veterans worked on chassis and personal tuning for 2007 edition of the series. Formula TR is a driver development series that uses the world's largest and longest lived development platform, the Formula Renault. The formula is stable and the safety is unprecedented.
