Former NEC driver Thomas Knopper died in karting crash

On Sunday the 9th of August, 19 year old Thomas Knopper died as a consequence to a heavy crash in Liedolsheim, Germany. Directly after the start of the forth round of the German Kartin Championship (DSKM) Knopper collided with an Italian competitor, hit a wall and died instantly.

Thomas, driving Formula Renault 2.0 NEC with AR Motorsport in 2008, had rejoined the AVG Racing team for this years karting season. He was a very experienced and succesfull karting pilot, winning the important KZ2 title in 2007.

On behalf of the Northern European Cup, we express our sincere condolences to the family, friends and team members of Thomas Knopper.
