Two Pan-American Championships To Be Launched in 2005 Based on Formula Renault V6 and Formula Renault 2.0 Cars

Renault Sport Technologies has just concluded a partnership agreement with British investor John Jakes, who has economic interests in the USA, for the organisation of a twin Pan-American championship based on the Formula Renault V6 and Formula Renault 2.0 race cars.

From 2005, in compliance with the terms of this agreement, John Jakes will ensure the promotion, commercialisation and organisation of the two championships, both of which will feature eight rounds that will visit the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Costa Rica. The first event is scheduled for May 2005.

For the championship based on the Formula Renault V6, John Jakes has acquired the fleet of single-seaters that competed in the Renault Sport-organised Eurocup FRV6 European Championship in 2003 and 2004. Renault Sport is currently in the process of completely reconditioning these cars (chassis, engine, gearbox, shock absorbers) prior to their shipment to the USA in February 2005.
