Northern European Cup participates in FIA GT weekend Oschersleben
From the 19th to the 21st of June, Formula Renault 2.0 NEC will join the programme of FIA GT at the Motosport Arena Oschersleben in Germany. Formula Renault will be sharing the paddock with the amazing cars of the FIA GT3, European GT4 and ATS Formula 3, during the 10th edition of this great event near Magdenburg.
Whilst the majority of the NEC cars is still on the road at this moment, either returning from last weekends race in Finland or the World Series by Renault in Hungary, the field will be reunited in Oschersleben to compete for the fourth round of the Northern European Cup.
British guest driver Harry Tincknell for CRS Scuderia, usually participating in the Formula Remault 2.0 UK championship completes the starting grid, next to the 22 cars participating in the 2009 season of the Northern European Cup.
The Motopark boys will be eager to show their skills and regain first position, after Finnish Daniel Aho took the lead in the overall standings last weekend at Alastaro. Conditions are to the advantage of the black and white Motopark cars, as the track in Oschersleben is home to Timo Rumpfkeils racing team.
Friday the 19th will offer the opportunity to explore the track during the scheduled free practice, enabling all drivers to set competitive times during the qualification on Saturday morning. The afternoon of the 20th is set for the first race of the weekend, race number 7 for the championship. Then the teams only have Saturday evening to repair any damages or work on their set up, as the second race is set for 8.00 on Sunday morning.
After the FIA GT event, teams and drivers can enjoy their summer in July to meet again in Assen, the Netherlands for the Rizla Racing days.
