ZOLDER, 05 AUGUST 2007 -- Gwendolyn Hertzberger got to know the Zolder track last weekend during the fourth round of the Northern European Cup Formula Renault 2.0 in Belgium. The lady of AR Motorsport started both races from P24 and finished 19th twice during the Zandvoort Masters of Formula 3 @ Circuit Zolder. On 25th and 26th August the next round is planned at the Nurburgring (Germany). With this weekends mileage in the bag she will prepare the coming weeks for the second half of the season.

FREE PRACTICE + QUALIFYING:

Gwendolyn had never been to the Belgian circuit before. She used the half hour free practice session to get to know the track. On Friday afternoon two qualifying sessions were planned. With new tyres she went out on the track for a fast lap. Half way the session she was in sixteenth place and tried to improve her time. A code red temporarily ended the session but with four minutes to go it was restarted again. Gwendolyn again tried to set a faster lap time on the clock but did not manage to do so. With a best time of 1:33.803 she ended on P24. During the second timed session of twenty minutes Hertzberger set her fastest time in her second lap. A little later she was pushed off the track and had to drive trough the gravel. Duet o a yellow flag at the end of the session she was not able to improve her position and had to settle with another 24th position.

RACE 01 + 02:

In race 1 on Saturday morning Gwendolyn made a great start but in the first corner she was hit from behind by another competitor causing her to spin. The number 16 Formula Renault 2.0 car was able to continue the race had a lonely race and won a couple of places when other drivers retired prematurely. After seventeen laps Hertzberger finished in nineteenth place. During the second race Gwendolyn immediately won a few places before turn one. Unfortunately she lost those places in turn one again and had to continue in 24th place. During the race Gwendolyn was fighting with Mateusz Adamski who she had to let go. The second race she finished nineteenth.

GWENDOLYN HERTZBERGER: "I learnt a lot this weekend. I had to get familiar with the track in half an hour. That went quit well for me. During the first timed session I could follow nicely but was not able to improve my time after the session was restarted. In the second session it could have been possible for me to improve my time but unfortunately I was pushed off the track. During the races it was not easy. I spun in the first corner and started the race at the back of the pack. During race two I was able to find a nice rhythm. Luckily I finished both races so I have a lot of mileage under the belt. I am going to drive carts the coming weeks and will play simulation games on the computer in preparation of the next round at the Nurburgring. I hope to finish further in front."
